The Watts Bar Lake Association is again supporting the National Clean Boating Campaign this year, which is designed to increase public awareness of clean boating practices to boating enthusiasts. The theme of the campaign is “Boating is good clean fun. Let’s keep it that way.”
Partnering with the lake association is Tennessee Valley Authority, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, US Coast Guard Auxiliary and Keep Roane Beautiful. Partners will be hosting a clean and safe boat day on June 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at six public boat ramps around Watts Bar Reservoir: Watts Bar Dam, Spring City Park, Ladd Landing, Roane County Park, Kingston City Park and the Hog Pen on River Road (boat ramps are tentative). In addition to the free information and clean boating supplies being handed out, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will be conducting complimentary boat safety inspections to those wanting to find out if their boat is a safe vessel.
Please check with Don Den Uyl (423-334-3723), president of the Watts Bar Lake Association, or Wendy Jackson (865-882-0030), executive director of Keep Roane Beautiful, for final arrangements and sites.
