Field & Stream will feature Daniel Lee in an upcoming issue and now holds the title as the Country Music’s reigning Total Outdoorsman. This trip will be filmed for broadcast on Outdoor Channel and Versus networks during the fourth quarter of 2008, and will appear on "Backstage & Backroads with Daniel Lee Martin" on The Sportsman Channel in 2009.
On Friday, June 6th, Field & Stream held their Total Outdoorsman Challenge local and regional qualifying events. The top two finishers in the regional competition will compete in the Field & Stream Total Outdoorsman Challenge Championship in Springfield, Mo., Sept. 11-14, 2008. The winner of the National finals will win $25,000 in cash and prizes and a spread in Field & Stream.
"Daniel Lee Martin (a recording artist with ChinMusic Records) was the big surprise in Nashville this year. Daniel Lee won the celebrity event and finished second in the regional, punching his ticket to Dogwood Canyon. The real surprise is that he's the most complete competitor I have seen at a regional this year. You don't expect that from a celebrity event. He can really cast, and his shooting skills are lights out. Daniel Lee is a huge obstacle on Paul's road to three-peat. Speaking of the celebrity event, I love me some country music, so that was about as much fun as I could have outside of deer camp. The country music artists competed hard, interacted with crowd, and even taunted each other a little." --John Davis, Field & Stream Total Outdoorsman Challenge competition manager
"The Field & Stream Celebrity Total Outdoorsman Challenge presented by Mobil 1" was a highlight Thursday with Country Music artists and other celebrities showing off their outdoor skills with contests in archery, fly casting, bait casting, and air rifle and attempting to beat the two-time Total Outdoorsman Challenge Champion Paul Thompson, who also joined the competition. In an upset that had people buzzing, Daniel Lee Martin beat Thompson for the First Place seat. Martin's prizes including a televised hunting trip and new BowTech bow. On Friday, the Field & Stream held local and regional Total Outdoorsman Challenges." -- AngryCountry.com
